In 2016 our Party leader, founder and convenor Julie Matheson ran as an Independent for the Senate at the Federal Election. She gained more votes than any other Independent Senate Candidate across Australia!

At the 2017 State Election, the party ran 20 candidates in the Legislative Assembly (Lower House). We gained 6,145 votes which was a fantastic result for our first contest as a registered political party.

At the 2017 State Election, the party ran 12 candidates in the Legislative Council (Upper House), that was 2 candidates in each upper house region. We gained 5,270 votes which was a fantastic result, it provided us with a strong foundation for future elections.
2018 Cottesloe By-election

In March 2018 the party had its most successful election to date. In the Cottesloe by-election, we ran former Mayor of Mosman Park Ron Norris with much success. Ron gained 1,636 votes or 9.0%. It was a fantastic result and one that showed the anger over the G.S.T. Distribution.

In June 2018 former newsreader Russell Goodrick contested the Darling Range By-election for the WESTERN AUSTRALIA PARTY. The party gained 1,413 votes or 5.8%. This result was promising for the Party as we managed to beat the Greens and One Nation in many polling booths.

2018 Perth By-election

House of Representatives
In July 2018, we ran Party leader Julie Matheson in the Perth By-election. As the party was not federally registered at the time, she ran as an unregistered candidate. The result was fantastic! Julie gained 3,123 votes or 5.38% and proved that the WESTERN AUSTRALIA PARTY can have an impact on a national level.

House of Representatives
The 2019 Federal Election was our first official general election as the WESTERN AUSTRALIA PARTY. It was an enormous success. We ran candidates in 15/16 Lower house seats. These candidates gained 25,298 votes or 1.80% of the votes in Western Australia, we beat far more established parties like the WA Nationals or the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party. Our most successful result was with Gary Mounsey in Durack. Gary gained 2,895 votes or 3.72% including gaining 35% of the vote in Exmouth. A fantastic result!

At the 2019 Federal Election, we ran a very experienced team of 5 on our party Senate ticket: Julie Matheson, David Freilich OAM, Bruce Thompson, Ron Norris, Rod Bradley. This amazing team of Western Australians gained 17,213 votes or 1.19% a great result for our first federal election! In fact, they managed to beat parties that currently have Members of Parliament including: Liberal Democrats, Animal Justice and the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers.
