Michael says he will hold the government to account on their attitude toward the West in particular the appalling custodianship of the GST fund by the Major Parties. He believes that the GST fund is the key weapon in our fight to upgrade WA Health and Educational facilities. The billions of dollars withheld from WA can also aid major investment and wealth back into the whole of Western Australian infrastructure.
From the 1950’s until the 2010’s, WA received Federal Government Grants which roughly equated to our population of 11%. Today we are at levels of about half that percentage. When Lib/Lab MP’s tell you the GST is
fixed, they must mean it will be stuck below 75c. Our GST share is most certainly not repaired. No other state or territory has received less than 80c.
Michael simply asks, that we are treated as equals.
